Goodman Cancer Research Centre Histology Core Facility

McGill University, Montréal, Québec
What the facility does

General and specialized histology, immunohistochemistry, TMA’s, special stains

Areas of expertise

The Rosalind and Morris Goodman Cancer Research Centre has established a specialized histology service to respond to the needs of its members, as well as investigators from outside the McGill research community. These services focus on research needs related to tumour-tissue characterization for cancer-related projects, developmental histology (embryos) and animal pathology. The samples submitted for analysis are treated with the highest standards in quality, using the latest technological advances. Coupled with assessments by a veterinary pathologist, Dr. Jean-Martin Lapointe (DMV, MS, dACVP), the services provided by the centre’s Histology Core Facility ensure that submitted projects benefit from a combination of high technical quality, rapid sample processing and unique pathology expertise.

The Histology Core Facility is a full-service research facility providing a wide range of services for routine histological procedures, including:

  • Tissue processing for paraffin/frozen blocks
  • Sectioning of paraffin/frozen blocks
  • H&E and a variety of special stains for paraffin and frozen sections
  • Training in general tissue processing and histology study methodologies
