3D Data Acquisition and Processing Laboratory

Bishop's University, Sherbrooke, Québec
What the facility does

Algorithms and software development, 3D data reconstruction, analysis and image acquisition, computer vision.

Areas of expertise

The lab is equipped with a 3D Faro laser scanner and necessary software to collect 3D scans from natural scenes and man-made structures, such as buildings and bridges, which allows modelling and measuring real objects in numerous applications. Our research focuses on 3D reconstruction and analysis.

Research services

3D scanning, 3D reconstruction, 3D data analysis

Sectors of application
  • Arts and cultural industries
  • Construction (including building, civil engineering, specialty trades)
  • Forestry and forest-based industries
  • Information and communication technologies and media
  • Manufacturing and processing

Faro Focus 3D laser scanner

Allows measuring rapid positioning of physical objects and facilitates the production of 3D data at a very precise level of detail. It records architectural façades, complex structures, production and supply facilities, accident sites, and large-volume components.
