Regional advanced manufacturing innovation hub with enhanced capabilities in additive printing and product/process/materials development

Area(s) of Expertise

Bluewater Technology Access Centre (BTAC) is Lambton College's frontline for industry innovation under the Applied Research & Innovation department’s umbrella. BTAC is a research and development centre that collaborates with Canadian businesses (specifically small and medium-sized enterprises – SMEs) offering specialized technical services and object analysis, applied research and development support, and training related to new types of equipment and technologies. Through contract or grant funded projects, BTAC supports SMEs to advance products, processes, technologies and services for commercialization. BTAC’s expertise includes advanced manufacturing and 3D printing. The Advanced Manufacturing & 3D Printing Lab houses BTAC’s design and fabrication space for rapid prototyping, integrated systems engineering, and industry-focused research and development activities. Services include: engineering and design process improvement, product development, project testing, proof of concept, scale up, technology, and commercialization services. BTAC has close collaboration with other research centres at the College including: Centre for Industrial Material Development, Bio-industrial Process Research Centre, Lambton Energy Research Centre and Lambton Water Centre.
