Beltran Hydrate Research Group

Royal Military College of Canada, Kingston, Ontario
What the facility does

Applications and fundamentals of gas hydrates and high-pressure microscopy

Areas of expertise

We specialize in custom setups that allow us to examine gas hydrate crystallization under tightly controlled conditions. Our unique three-in-one equipment allows for fast determination of hydrate dissociation conditions, and the kinetics of growth and crystal morphology. Full characterization of hydrate-forming systems with inhibitors, particles or special coatings can be completed in days.

Research services

Phase equilibria related to gas hydrates, testing and development of gas hydrate inhibitors or promoters, evaluation  of surface coatings and particle interactions related to gas hydrates or crystallization processes

Sectors of application
  • Chemical industries
  • Clean technology
  • Energy (renewable and fossil)
  • Environmental technologies and related services
  • Manufacturing and processing
