Once you have found a facility you think is likely to have the equipment and expertise you are looking for, make contact via the email address or phone number included in the profile. Our listed facilities are eager to help you, so be sure to let them know you found them through the CFI Navigator.
To help you make the most of your first contact with a facility, here are some suggestions for key information you may wish to provide:
- What is your product, service or process-related challenge? Make sure that your problem or objective is clearly defined.
- How do you think the research facility might be able to help you resolve that challenge? What kind of help do you seek (e.g. expertise, specialized facilities or equipment, independent third-party testing or validation of a new product or process, other)?
- In what way do you expect your company and its employees to participate in, or contribute to, the research collaboration?
- What is your timeline?
Each institution and lab or facility within an institution has its own research policies and practices, with a range of fee structures and intellectual property arrangements. The contact(s) listed for each lab can provide information on these, or direct you to an appropriate source for information at their institution.
