The research team has developed unique expertise in the application of magnetic fields aimed at targeted delivery of cancer-treatment medication. Its expertise also encompasses related fields, namely the production of therapeutic vectors such as FeCo magnetic nanoparticles encapsulated in PLGO microparticles and liposomes loaded with medications attached to ultra-performing magnetotactic bacteria. The team has also developed expertise in complex robotic systems and specialized medical tools such as MRI navigation, magnetic catheters, magnetic monopole generators, imaging and image resetting technologies, manufacturing of microfluidic polymer circuits and realization of full in vivo procedures.

UNIM (Unité NanoRobotique d’Intervention Médicale)

  • MRI system (Siemens Magnetom Sonata 1.5 T)
  • MRI/NMR console (Tecmag Redstone 0-128 MHz, 1 Tx, 4 Rx)
  • 320 mT/m gradient insert (RRI BFG-240/150-450-S)
  • Animal supply facility equipped with a cage rack (mice, rats, rabbits, pigs), a biological safety cabinet and a ventilated surgery table

Laboratory dedicated to magnetic resonance imaging and medication and magnetic catheter navigation. The lab features a housing room and an operating room with direct access to the MRI room. Ventilated cage units, laminar flow cabinet, ventilated transport trolley, filtered air source to maintain a sterile environment in the MRI tunnel. MRI-compatible isoflurane anaesthesia. Imaging sequences and varied antennae enable angiographies and the use of a contrast agent.

Hybrid laboratory with workstations and research instruments. Ability to manufacture precision parts using CNC technology (5 µm precision) and microfluidic printed circuits (10 µm precision and minimum channel size of 150 µm), and to work with chemicals. A microscope and binocular are used for inspections and enable precise measurements.

Dedicated laboratory for direct nanostructure writing in photosensitive polymers. It is possible to write at a volume of 15 cm*15 cm*15 cm with a resolution of 10 nm and minimum structure size of 400 nm. Only .dxf and .stl binary files are accepted.
