What the facility does

Research on electronic analog mixed signal circuits 

Areas of expertise

This lab, designed for analog and digital purposes, hosts several kinds of instruments for the testing of analog and mixed signal circuits operating up to 10GHz. The lab has been designed to create a test bench for the characterization of wireless transceivers and/or their building blocks (i.e. low noise amplifiers, mixers, analog filters, oscillators, power amplifiers and frequency synthesizers). Two key instruments present in the lab are: a Spectrum Analyzer (SA) and a Dual RF Output Vector Signal Generator (VSG). The flexibility of these two instruments allows the creation of several setups for the testing of receivers, transmitters and frequency synthesizers (i.e. the three main constitutive subsystems of a wireless transceiver). The performance of these two instruments in terms of dynamic range, low noise floor and wideband modulation make the infrastructure an outstanding test-bench for the characterization of the next generation of cellular/WSN systems.
Although the lab is mainly designed for the characterization of wireless systems, several other setups can be created for the characterization of analog-mixed signal electronic circuits and systems.
