Radiogenic Isotope Geochemistry and Geochronology Laboratory

Natural Resources Canada, Ottawa, Ontario
What the facility does

Expertise and method development on radiogenic isotope-based analysis for tracing crustal, environmental and marine processes, and for dating geologic events.

Areas of expertise

The facility specializes in high-precision geochronology to calibrate, test and refine geological and metallogenic models for resource assessment; in situ, micron-scale isotopic analytical techniques as chronometers and tracers of complex geological processes; and thermochronological research into quantitative modelling of low-temperature thermal histories for basin and tectonic analyses.

Research services

Specialized analysis and method development.

Collaborative projects are treated on a case-by-case basis and selected through a proposal system. Projects must be aligned with, and contribute to, advancing laboratory strategic goals. They must also be closely aligned with the current Geological Survey of Canada program. Collaborative projects are undertaken on a cost-recovery basis.
