The NAIT Centre for Data Management and Visualization helps organizations transform data into informed decisions. Its multidisciplinary team delivers end-to-end expertise across the data lifecycle, from developing scalable data pipelines and governance frameworks grounded in FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, and Reusable) and CARE (Collective benefit, Authority to control, Responsibility, and Ethics) principles to deploying artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) solutions that address complex operational challenges.

The Centre leverages generative AI and multi-modal large language models (LLMs) to enhance content creation, data visualization, and interpretation. Interactive dashboards, digital twins, and simulation environments integrate sensor, spatial, and motion data into advanced decision-support systems. Human performance analysis is supported through optical and inertial motion capture technologies, enabling applications such as training simulations, ergonomic analysis, and digital storytelling.

  • Data architecture and preparation: Develops scalable data foundations that supports advanced analytics and AI applications, designing pipelines that transform fragmented datasets into reliable, analysis-ready assets.
  • Data governance and sovereignty: Establishes ethical data frameworks aligned with FAIR and CARE principles, embedding data sovereignty and responsible governance throughout the project lifecycle.

  • Motion capture and performance analysis: Capture and analyze human movement data for animation, virtual production and research applications using a motion capture studio (2000 sq. feet), optical motion capture systems (Vicon) and wearable marker-based capture suits.
