Centre for Advancement of Water and Wastewater Technologies (CAWT)

Fleming College (Sir Sandford Fleming College), Lindsay, Ontario
What the facility does

Applied research in water and wastewater treatment science, laboratory analysis, environmental technology verification, technology precommercialization services

Areas of expertise

With its state of the art laboratory and indoor/outdoor testing facility, the Centre for Advancement of Water and Wastewater Technologies (CAWT) conducts, facilitates, and coordinates applied research on water-related technologies and alternative wastewater treatment technologies.

Small, medium, and large sized businesses are helped with their applied research and innovation needs, allowing them to become more competitive, expand their businesses, and achieve economic success as Canadian businesses in the water sector. By using the CAWT’s R&D and verification services, innovative companies can move through the commercialization pathway and be confident in their technology or product.

The scientists and researchers at the CAWT have knowledge, experience, and expertise in a range of water and wastewater technologies, methods, and related applications. Although not bound to these areas, applied research at the CAWT is primarily focused on alternative treatment methods, cold-climate technologies, filtration and membrane technologies, treatment wetlands, bioremediation, fixed film bioreactors, ozonation technologies, anaerobic bioreactors, UV treatment technologies, denitrification, greywater treatment, and phosphorus adsorption technologies.
