Traumatic Brain Injury Research Lab

The University of British Columbia, Kelowna, British Columbia
What the facility does

Brain and behavioural assessment in traumatic brain injury

Areas of expertise

Our lab has expertise in the assessment of traumatic brain injury using behavioural and cerebrovascular physiological techniques. These combined approaches allow more objective insight into the diagnosis, management and return-to-activity decisions following a concussion.

Research services

Neurocognitive function testing, cerebrovascular monitoring, 3D motion analysis, transcranial magnetic stimulation, electromyography

Sectors of application
  • Healthcare and social services
  • Life sciences, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment

Motion analysis system

Monitors movement of body segments in 3D space

Force platform

Measures force distribution and magnitude during standing

Electromyography system

Assesses timing and magnitude of muscle activity

Automated blood pressure monitor

Automatically measures blood pressure during activity

Transcranial doppler ultrasound device

Monitors cerebral blood flow

Transcranial magnetic stimulator

Generates magnetic pulse that can be used to stimulate cortical areas
