The Research Facilities Navigator was inspired by you — Canada’s ambitious researchers, innovators, leaders and entrepreneurs — and your drive to connect, to create and to change your world.

It’s a story that begins in 2011, during lively discussions among CFI stakeholders on ways to help these groups join forces and promote collaborations that could support Canada’s economy and improve health and environmental outcomes for all citizens. The idea for an online directory of publicly funded research infrastructure was born.

After extensive consultations and development, we launched the Navigator in 2013 with 150 listings of facilities ready to open their doors to collaborations with industry, external research partners and other organizations. The idea quickly gained traction, as listings on the Navigator more than tripled within a few years.

The story continues: We are dedicated to exploring new ways of contributing to Canada’s innovation landscape, and evolving current tools like the Navigator to better serve the needs of communities. Thanks to all our partners who have helped us nurture this project. We can’t wait to see what you do next.
