Renewable energy research centre

The centre specializes in the optimization of wind farms, the development of solutions for integrating renewable energy sources, and support for the growth of small and medium enterprises in the wind industry.

The centre is the only research facility in the world that studies the behaviour and performance of wind energy equipment in a cold climate and on complex terrain. Our clients and research partners benefit from cutting-edge equipment, such as two high-power (2.05 MW) wind turbines, a smart wind-diesel hybrid microgrid, two 126-metre wind measurement masts and a LIDAR (laser remote sensing technology).

High-power wind turbines (2 X 2,05 MW).

Study and characterization of wind farm performance; aerodynamics.

Four wind measurement masts, two of which are 126 meters, equipped with ice detectors, ceilometers, wind vanes and heated and unheated anemometers of varying heights.

Meteorology and assessment and development of meteorological measuring instruments.

Smart wind-diesel hybrid microgrid (rated power of 200 kW).

Assessment and development of connected systems, wind-diesel hybrid systems and stand-alone grids.

One LIDAR (remote sensing technology)

Meteorology and assessment and development of meteorological measuring instruments.

High-speed (1 Hz) data processing and storage infrastructure
