Wind Energy TechnoCentre

Cégep de la Gaspésie et des Îles, Gaspé, Québec
Area(s) of Expertise

The centre specializes in the optimization of wind farms, the development of solutions for integrating renewable energy sources, and support for the growth of small and medium enterprises in the wind industry.

The centre is the only research facility in the world that studies the behaviour and performance of wind energy equipment in a cold climate and on complex terrain. Our clients and research partners benefit from cutting-edge equipment, such as two high-power (2.05 MW) wind turbines, a smart wind-diesel hybrid microgrid, two 126-metre wind measurement masts and a LIDAR (laser remote sensing technology).

Main activity sectors: microgrid, operation and maintenance, cold climate and frost, meteorlogy and complex terrains, business networking and innovation commercialization.
