Desaulniers Research Group (gene expression)

Ontario Tech University (University of Ontario Institute of Technology), Oshawa, Ontario
What the facility does

Conducts synthesis and evaluation of chemically-modified nucleic acids.

Areas of expertise

This leading-edge facility aims to understand and target gene expression. Directed by Jean-Paul Desaulniers, the group is comprised of dedicated graduate and undergraduate students. The group utilizes a multidisciplinary approach combining organic chemistry, biochemistry, biophysical chemistry, and molecular biology to conduct its investigations.

The facility undertakes a diverse range of projects, ranging from the use of synthetic organic chemistry to generate new molecules with potential beneficial properties, to cell-based biological characterization of macromolecular-ligand interactions. The group is currently focused on research and innovation pertaining to chemically modifying nucleic acids.
