What the facility does

Research that aims to address technical and social challenges brought about by the integration of artificial intelligence.

Areas of expertise

The Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence (AI) Lab is leading-edge research facility dedicating to addressing technical and social challenges that arise from the increasing presence of artificial intelligence (AI) in society. Led by Canada Research Chair in Trustworthy Artificial Intelligence, Peter Lewis, the laboratory is comprised of a team of skilled interdisciplinary graduate students, researchers, and industry professionals.

Integrating AI into society poses multifaceted difficulties, raising the fundamental question of when individuals should place their trust in AI. Our work aims to empower people to make well-informed decisions regarding intelligent machines in diverse situations. Through extensive research efforts, we aim to further the development of reliable AI. The lab aspires to build reflective AI, artificial intelligence with the self-awareness to enhance its reliability.

Our work is derived from a wealth of experience from spearheading AI implementation in both commercial and non-profit sectors.
