Microscopy Facility

Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières, Trois-Rivières, Québec
What the facility does

Confocal microscopy on fixed or live cells

Areas of expertise

Our facility conducts confocal imaging of live plant or animal cells using multicolored markers (cyan, green, yellow, red). Our microscope is equipped with four lasers (405,488,552,625) and we can set emission acquisition at all wavelengths between 405-750nm. The stage is fully motorized and equipped with a piezo Z-motorization for high-precision Z-stacking. We routinely undertake imaging of immunolabelled fixed cells and undertake imaging of fluorescently labelled live cells as well.  Additionally, the microscope is equipped with a CO2 temperature-controlled chamber for time-lapse imaging of mammalian cells. Applications such as FRET, FRAP, tiling, deconvolution, 3D rendering, spectral unmixing, lambda scanning, and X,Y measurements are possible. Precise volume calculation is not currently available but could become available in the future.

External users may be trained to use the facility or can provide their sample for imaging. We will charge basic user fees and may calculate additional fees depending on the complexity of the requested analysis.
