Areas of expertise

The Distributed Database Laboratory performs applied research into data management challenges for relational, NoSQL, cloud, and big data systems. Researchers and developers are engaged in projects on sensor and embedded databases for use in agricultural, environmental, and industrial applications and large-scale data and AI projects for converting organizational data into actionable insights. 

The team works with organizations to tackle data challenges big or small in any industry. Expertise includes software engineering, system development, and consulting. The lab has worked with Fortune 500 companies including GE, and its research group specializes in database integration,  implementation design and software development.
