Develops and applies new bioanalytical technologies to accelerate drug and vaccine development in Canada and internationally.
The Technology Enhanced Biopharmaceuticals Development and Manufacturing (TEnDev): Mirror Lab provides new bioanalytical technologies that accelerate pre-clinical drug development, particularly in the ‘hit to lead’ (H2L) and ‘lead optimization’ (LO) stages, and support manufacturing, especially in the areas of process optimization and quality control. In the TEnDev initiative, novel analytical technologies developed in academia are inserted into the development workflows of biopharmaceutical partners including Sanofi, GSK and Treventis among others, providing improved ‘molecular mechanism of action,’ ‘molecular characterization’ and ‘biological function’ data that translate into accelerated development, increased regulatory success, an improved basis for fundraising and industrial partnerships and, ultimately, optimized manufacturing of biopharmaceuticals including vaccines and protein therapeutics.
- Molecular characterization of biopharmaceutical candidates including vaccines and protein therapeutics;
- Functional characterization of biopharmaceutical candidates at the molecular level (i.e., binding thermodynamics, binding kinetics, epitope mapping, impact of candidate binding on structure/dynamics of target);
- Structure/dynamics – guided drug development.
- Chemical industries
- Life sciences, pharmaceuticals and medical equipment
- Manufacturing and processing
