What the facility does

Research on deception detection and interviewing practices.

Areas of expertise

The LIE Lab is a distinguished research facility dedicated to the study of deception and its detection. Its researchers use social and cognitive perspectives to create innovative interviewing techniques and improve deception detection. The lab focuses on developing approaches that can be used for training purposes and policy development across contexts (e.g., the justice system, healthcare settings).

Led by Dr. Amy-May Leach, the LIE Lab is comprised of a group of accomplished graduate researchers and driven undergraduate students who collaborate on cutting-edge projects. Current projects include studying the impact of language proficiency on deception, examining cognitive processes that facilitate deception detection, and reconceptualizing the measurement of deception and its detection.
