Research related to employee selection procedures (e.g. employment interviews) in organizations
The Guelph Selection Lab focuses on research related to employee selection procedures (e.g. selection tests, employment interviews) in organizations. Our lab is made up of graduate students (PhD and Masters' in Industrial-Organizational Psychology), Psychology honour's students, research interns and volunteers. We focus on finding fair and valid methods of hiring the best employees. Most recently, we have investigated factors that affect interview performance such as interview anxiety, and impression management (honest and deceptive), and applicant reactions to selection procedures (e.g. fairness, interpersonal treatment).
Services are tailored to each specific research project in order to address organizational questions related to employee selection, candidate/employee performance, etc. Services/Projects may include personality testing, performance assessments, and mock interviews along with result analysis.
